House
Well...we got the house on Black Lake that we have been trying to get for over a month now!! The bank finally accepted our offer. So far all we have is a verbal agreement, apparently it takes a few days to get the paper work done. (Actually the bank said it could take anywhere from 72 hours to 21 days...I am really hoping for the shorter end)! We are going out to the house tonight to take measurements on everything so we can start getting bids for the new kitchen and flooring we are going to put in. I'll try to take some pics and post them as soon as I get a chance! Wish us luck! :)

Fishing Trip
Mark and I went on a halibut fishing trip with my parents this last weekend. I was so excited because I have never caught a halibut before and have heard what fun it is (and of course love to eat halibut as well). So we went up to Port Angeles Thursday after work, which is about a three hour drive from here when you are towing a boat. We checked into this super cute European style hotel right downtown near the water.
Friday morning we got up early (about 6 am) and took the boat down to the docks to launch it. It was a gorgeous day out, sunny and fairly warm, and the ocean was as smooth as a lake. We got the boat started and headed out to do some fishing, only to have the engine die on us three miles out from the docks. We ended up having water in our gas tank from sitting all winter long. Luckily we had the kicker motor to get us back to the docks. We ran to an automotive store and picked up some gas cleaner and put it into the boat. We were finally able to get out fishing by mid-day, but unfortunately caught nothing (it seems that everyone was catching fish in the morning).
Saturday we got up early again and launched the boat only to find that the motor wouldn't let us idle. So we called around and finally found a mechanic who was able to flush out the carburetor for us (apparently this was the issue). By the time we got back out on the water again, no one was catching anything.
Sunday we were able to go out first thing in the morning, but unfortunately no one seemed to be catching anything on Sunday. We heard about two people out of hundreds that seemed to be out fishing that caught anything on Sunday. Of course, the two people who did catch halibut Sunday caught huge ones. There was a 90 lb and a 156 lb one caught! I can't even imagine how difficult that must have been (and fun)!
So...after three days of fishing, we have no fish. Oh well, I guess that's just life. Luckily we'll be going Salmon fishing and hopefully bottom fishing in July when we go down to Coos Bay. I think we are also going up to Canada in August to try halibut again, so we'll see...

He did it!
Mark passed his final test for the Assistant Store Manager training that he's been in. It was a three month process, but he is all done now. I am so proud of him...he got a 92% on the test! He can now begin applying for Assistant Store Manager positions...so think good thoughts for him! :)

Back to House Hunting
Well I am sorry to say that we didn't get the house. Mark and I went as high as we felt the house was worth, considering the amount of money we need to put into it as well. We came within $4,000 of what the bank was asking and they wouldn't accept it. I am so dissapointed because I really love this house and thought for sure that this was the one. However, Mark and I feel very strongly that we should not be bullied into offering more just to get the house and be paying more than we think we should for it. There is still a possibility that the bank will come back with an offer again in a few weeks if it hasn't sold, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. In the mean time I am really trying to trust that God has our best interests in mind. If it is meant to be it will happen, if not then I am sure that he has something better out there in store for us! (I just wish he would hurry up and show me sometimes).
So we're back to house hunting again. Keep us in your thoughts and hopefully we'll find the right one soon!

House Hunting
Mark and I have been house hunting since January. It has been a roller coaster for us (not to mention a long and frustrating process), putting offers in and then losing the houses. The first two houses were short sales which are just a pain to deal with.
We put an offer in on our third house (and hopefully our final) on Friday. This one is not a short sale, so hopefully it won't be such a long and tedious process to deal with. I am very excited about this house. It is much nicer and larger than the other two houses that we have offered on. It is 3 bedrooms and has a nice sized living room and a huge family room. Mark is very excited about the huge 2 car garage/shop! It's on about 1/3 of an acre and the back yard (which I love) is all fenced in for us. It's also in a great neighborhood with private lake access, a clubhouse, park, and a pool which will be wonderful in the summer! Say a prayer for us and hopefully everything will all work out...we'll be sure to keep everyone posted!

Hello Everyone!
I have been thinking of starting a blog for quite some time now. I have heard such great things about the power of putting emotions as well as simple day to day life things on paper (or on the computer) that I figured I really ought to try it out. I am excited to see where this takes me and thought that it might also be nice for friends and family to be updated on what is going on in our lives.
So to start off, I'll get everyone up to date on life thus far:
Mark and I got married last August (I'll post some pictures on here later). It was the most perfect wedding I could ever have asked for. We were married on August 8th, 2008 in Albee's Gardens in Olympia, Washington. It was absolutely gorgeous and we had so much fun celebrating with our family and friends!
I was hired permanently with the Higher Education Coordinating Board on September 1st as a Program Coordinator in the Financial Aid department. (I had been working there for a year prior as a temporary work study student while finishing college). I absolutely love my job and the people I work with are wonderful!
I graduated (finally) from Saint Martin's University in December with my Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a Minor in Marketing. I even somehow managed to graduate with honors (Cum Laude).
Mark has been working for Lowes for about five years now. He is currently the Department Manager of Plumbing and Electrical (soon to be just Electrical). He keeps very busy there and really seems to enjoy what he does. He was accepted into the Assistant Store Manager training program in January of this year. It's a three month program which began mid February. He is doing very well and is really enjoying himself.
Well I think that is probably enough for now...I'm sure I'll post again soon. :)
